Equinox VGM is currently inviting applications for a Grinding Operator to join our growing team as the company ramps up mine operations and production.

Position Summary

Reporting to the Process Plant Operations Supervisor, the Grinding Operator performs the startup and shut down sequence processes for the grinding operation in the process plant. The incumbent is responsible for running the Grinding circuit from the ore stock pile to the cyclones. The primary function of the Grinding circuit is to reduce the ore size and mix it into fine slurry, suitable for leaching. In addition, this role must ensure work is performed in accordance with health, safety, and environmental and legislative requirements.

This position is located a t the Mine site, working on a 14 days in/14 days out rotation.

Accountabilities/Responsibilities

• Demonstrates leadership in Health, Safety and Environment through personal behaviors and conversations.

• Performs pre-operational checks and operates equipment according to standard operating procedures.
• Monitors equipment and processes, and conduct troubleshooting activities when problems arise, interacting with the Supervisor as required to correct.
• Performs plant housekeeping activities as required.
• Completes operator reports and ensures that equipment deficiencies and operational issues are communicated to the supervisor.
• Participates in crew safety meetings.
• Supports maintenance activities as required.
• Completes training modules, exercises and testing required.
• Ensures that the leaching and elution circuit is operating within specified limits.
• Operates small, motorized equipment.
• Communicates with supervisor regarding all aspects of grinding operations.
• Adheres to all company policies and procedures.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Education And Experience Required

• High school diploma or equivalent; or a significant amount of related experience in a similar role is required.
• Minimum of 5 years of operating experience in a processing plant, including 2 years of operating experience in the mining industry.
• Experience working in a remote industrial environment will be considered an asset.

Skills And Knowledge

• Ability to understand mineral processing theory and practice.
• Familiar with the safe work practices and standard operating procedures of a process plant.
• Knowledge of process plant processes and ability to operate the equipment autonomously at the completion of the training period.
• Ability to recognize hazards in an industrial workplace and understand their role in assessing and managing risk.
• Ability to apply logical thinking to solve problems and “trouble-shoot” abnormal situations to correct mechanical or process problems.
• Mechanical aptitude and ability to perform basic equipment repairs.
• Ability to communicate effectively with operations and maintenance personnel in the course of carrying out the duties.
• Proficient with operating a computer and running process plant applications.
• knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements at remote sites.
• Knowledge of the OHS, mining, and construction regulations.
• A valid driver license and a driver’s abstract.
