Equinox VGM is currently inviting applications for a Production Equipment Operator to join our growing team as the company ramps up mine operations and production.

Position Summary

The Production Equipment Operator is a team member of the Mine department and is responsible for manipulating Shovels and Loaders in a safe manner to achieve daily production targets. This role must ensure work is performed in accordance with health, safety, and environmental and legislative requirements and be a production Leader in the Mine.

This position is located at the Mine site, working on a 14 days in/14 days out rotation.

Accountabilities/Responsibilities

• Be a courageous health, safety, and environment advocate, adhere to and promote health, safety and environmental standards, policies and procedures.
• Operate Shovel and Large Loaders in a safe and appropriate manner.
• Conducts pre-trip/walk-around safety inspections and completes daily Field Level Hazard Assessments for all activities.
• Operate equipment safely and efficiently to meet production targets.
• Maintains equipment in good operating condition, reporting and logging maintenance requirements or concerns.
• Mentor, coach and train apprentices.
• Follow all safety procedures while operating equipment
• Report any required repairs or concerns to the supervisor.
• Complete production reporting and other documentation as required.
• Communicate effectively and professionally with other
• team members
• Perform work on a rotational basics (i.e. day and night shifts).
• Actively participate in orientation and training programs.
• Conduct daily inspections of the work area.
• Ensure all Trucks are loaded safely as per developed procedures
• Meet loading targets.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Education And Experience Required

• Journeyperson Heavy Equipment Operator (Provincial Blue Seal and/or National Red Seal) Certification is considered a strong asset.
• High School Diploma or equivalent; or a significant amount of related experience in a similar role is required.
• Minimum 5 years’ experience operating heavy equipment in a Mining Environment.

• CAT 6020/CAT 6030 Shovels
• CAT 993/CAT 966 Loaders
• Experience working in a remote industrial environment is preferred.
• Must hold a Valid Provincial Class 5 and Traction Engine Class 8 License.

Skills And Knowledge

• Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental requirements at remote sites.
• Excellent coordination and driving skills.
• Ability to provide mentorship, coaching and training to an apprentice.
• Strong knowledge of the OHS, mining, and construction regulations.
• Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and safety. Experience with radio communication and protocols. Excellent communication (oral/written) skills required. Strong team building skills.
• A valid driver license and a driver’s abstract.
