Industrial Engineering Manager

The Industrial Engineering Manager will lead and manage key engineering functions in the development, production, and optimization of high-performance window and door products. The Engineering Manager will be a critical driver in advancing innovation, efficiency, and compliance within the fenestration industry.

Responsibilities and Duties:

Product Development

• Lead the research and development of new window and door products, from conceptualization through to production, ensuring that they meet market demands and regulatory requirements.
• Oversee R&D activities to ensure alignment with corporate objectives and milestones, collaborating with Sales and Marketing to deliver innovative solutions.
• Coordinate with external design and fabrication vendors to support product development and testing.

Industrial Engineering

• Lead the design of efficient plant layouts to ensure Lean Manufacturing workflow, minimize material handling, and enhance productivity (ex: cellular layouts or hybrid layouts that improve material flow and reduce unnecessary movements).
• Drive the development and implementation of engineering processes that improve production capabilities and reduce waste (Use Six Sigma and lean methodologies).
• Implement regular Gemba walks and Kaizen events to foster a culture of continuous improvement, encouraging workers to identify problems and propose solutions.

Production Engineering

• Align facilities with production demand, optimizing workforce, equipment, and material usage, while overseeing equipment acquisition, calibration, and tool management to ensure efficient production.
• Lead troubleshooting, optimization, and change management processes to improve production efficiency, workflows, and product manufacturability.
• Implement Design for Manufacturability and Assembly technique as well as all the necessary Engineering Change Controls.
• Collaborate with Installation and Service Departments to address root cause issues and improve product performance in service.

Regulatory and Compliance

• Lead the Regulatory and Compliance Specialist to ensure the company's products are compliant with all applicable regulatory standards, building codes, and industry best practices.
• Ensure conducting audits are conducted on a regular basis and stay current with building code changes,
• Collaborate with the sales team and ensure to meet sales objectives in terms of regulations
• Ensure all thermal and physical testing certification are achieved.

Quality Assurance

• Ensure the organization develops, implements and maintains a formal Quality Management System to standardize the corporate quality processes and practices.
• Work closely with the Quality Lead to ensure all products meet the highest standards of quality and comply with both internal and external quality requirements.

Qualifications and Skills:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing).
• P.Eng. status with APEGA (additional eligibility for national certification is a definite asset).
• 10+ years of experience in the fenestration industry.
• Proficient with Lean Manufacturing principles, particularly in the optimization of window and door manufacturing processes.
• Knowledge of industry compliance and regulatory standards, such as NRCan, ENERGY STAR, and NFRC.
• Expertise in building codes, and thermal simulations.
• Strong understanding of R&D, Product Data Management, Industrial Engineering, and Quality Management.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, ERP systems, and other software used in fenestration manufacturing.
• Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage complex projects, and drive product innovation.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills
• Excellent leadership skills
