part time learning instructor

Job Responsibility:

Part-time Learning Instructor (Public Speaking, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, Calculus)

Dynamic after-school enrichment learning center seeking experienced Math / Physics / Biology / Chemistry / Public Speaking instructors to coach students from grades 7 to 12. All teaching materials are provided. The instructor will work with students in a small group setting. Must be flexible with changes in setting and time. This is a part-time, year-round position. Our center is open 7 days a week (except public holidays).

Requirements

• University graduate / student
• Excellent communication skills with adults and children
• Sense of responsibility
• Patience, enthusiasm, willingness to work with children
• Some teaching experience is preferred
• Hours can be discussed at the interview
• Proficient knowledge in:
• Public Speaking (Toastmasters),
• Math (Pre-calculus and Calculus),
• Science (Physics, Chemistry, Biology)
• Familiarity with the BC curriculum is required
• All candidates will be tested before the interview

General Responsibilities

• Provide appropriate academic coaching to students according to the Center policy.
• Motivate and encourage students
• Discuss students' progress with the Center Director on a timely basis
• May start as Learning Assistant in the beginning to become familiar with the program

* Compensation: based on experience.

Job Type: Part-time

Salary: $17.00-$22.00 per hour

• Monday to Sunday
