The Program

Reflections is part of the Safe Directions continuum and provides a confined court-ordered and monitored service for youth who are being sexually exploited or are at risk of sexual exploitation.

The Position

The Outreach position will entail building rapport with program participants, identifying youth suitable for outreach, and offering transitional support to the community. The Outreach position will focus on collaborating with community partners, agencies, and support networks to enhance community safety by offering education, connection and resources.

This is a contract position ending March 31, 2027 with a possibility of extension.

This is a flexible work week position (requiring 40hr/wk.). The position requires a willingness to engage in a non-structured work week, including evenings and weekends. Attendance in agency/program trainings, and staff meetings are required. The work week includes face-to-face hours with assigned clients, administrative hours and occasional floor shifts as required when needed.

Duties And Responsibilities

• Promoting and fostering connections, strengthening well-being and supporting transition to community. This may include assisting youth in accessing housing and employment opportunities
• Facilitating both individual and group educational programming
• Collaborate with partnering agencies, professionals, and other service providers for referrals, triage, and case coordination, while also working closely with own Agency professionals and fostering partnerships to ensure wraparound supports
• Provide comprehensive support including skill training and development, mentoring, community support, safety and connection planning, crisis support, family and individual advocacy, psycho-education and therapeutic support
• Increase connection by identifying and utilizing natural supports in the community to promote overall well-being
• Support in cultural, strengths and needs discovery
• Promote and safeguard the rights, interests and treatment of the those we support
• Attend to the physical safety, esteem and developmental needs of the youth
• Attend to team responsibilities in terms of participation, communication, and demonstrating a positive attitude
• Demonstrate appropriate conduct in terms of behavior, appearance, and presentation
• Maintain accurate and confidential client records and reports as required
• Participate in training, professional development and advocacy to enhance knowledge and skills in the field of sexual exploitation

Qualifications And Skills

• Completion of Level II checklist considered an asset.
• Degree or diploma in Human Services or Social Sciences (or currently enrolled).
• High level of personal competence in the formation and maintenance of caring and therapeutic relationships.
• Ability to engage children, youth, families and other professionals.
• Demonstrated interest, commitment, consistency, and a high level of personal maturity and responsibility.
• Experience in therapeutic campus-based programming or group care (preferred) as well as in community settings.
• Demonstrated ability to exercise sound independent judgment in working with complex needs individuals.
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Experience in completion of administrative tasks, self-motivated, highly driven and ability to take initiative.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• A Police Information Check, which includes a vulnerable sector search, is required (or is in process of being completed) prior to employment.
• A Child Intervention Record Check is required upon commencement of employment.
• Must have reliable transportation, valid driver’s license and ability to drive Agency vehicles and/or personal vehicles is required (min. 3 years driving experience with a class 5/GDL class 5 license and 2 million in third party liability insurance).
• Completion of ASIST, First Aid and Therapeutic Crisis Intervention would be considered an asset.
