The Senior Electrical Engineer

Setplan Engineering seeks a Senior Electrical Engineer to deliver electrical engineering services across new‑build, renovation, and tenant improvement projects. The role spans health care, education, mining, and industrial sectors, and offers opportunities to lead projects, broaden technical scope, and work with diverse clients, including those in the northern renewables sector and First Nations communities.

Key Responsibilities

• Own and drive end‑to‑end engineering services on assigned projects, including triage, planning, scope, fees, execution, and delivery.
• Perform assessments, design services, and construction supervision.
• Collaborate with team members, clients, and construction professionals to ensure alignment and timely execution.
• Monitor project budgets, resource allocation, deadlines, and deliverables.
• Participate in training and business development activities.
• Write professional proposals and reports, ensuring documentation, regulatory compliance, and quality standards are met.
• Provide mentorship and feedback to colleagues and junior team members.
• Identify and implement best practices to improve efficiency and effectiveness.

Experience & Qualifications Preferred

• Professional Engineer registrant with Engineers Canada, eligible for Yukon, BC, NWT/Nunavut registration.
• 7+ years experience as a professional electrical engineer in design and construction administration with progressive responsibility.
• Experience leading projects in building electrical engineering (new construction/renovations).
• Experience working remotely (if applying outside Whitehorse).
• Knowledge and application of standards: Canadian Electrical Code; National/BC Building Codes; ULC Standards; National Fire Code.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD; AGI32 or equivalent; MS Office Suite; cloud‑based accounting, project management, proposals, and CRM software.
• Experience with REVIT, ETAP, or EASYPOWER is an asset.

Reporting

The Senior Electrical Engineer reports to the Principal (Senior P.Eng.) and contributes to organizational growth by developing internal standards, participating in training, and supporting business development efforts.

Compensation and Benefits

Competitive salary ranging from $130,000 to $160,000, with extended benefits including up to 6 weeks PTO, RRSP contributions, and relocation assistance if needed. The role supports remote work (BC, AB, or YT), hybrid, or in‑office arrangements. Travel to job sites may be required, mainly around Whitehorse and Victoria.
