The branch is one of the primary drivers of revenue within the department, fostering relationships with the natural gas and oil industry, providing exceptional client service to ensure reporting for royalty purposes is accurate and in compliance with legislation and business rules.

Above all you must be comfortable in a continuously changing environment. Gas Royalty Operations is looking for a detail oriented and motivated individual to fill the role of Operational Analyst. With your keen eye for details; your outstanding interpersonal skills; and your ability to analyze information and problem solve; you will be a valuable part of a team that contributes to the accurate and complete assurance that gas royalty transactions are handled properly, classified and authorized in compliance with the Mines and Minerals Act, Natural Gas Royalty Regulations and Gas Royalty Guidelines. The Gas Royalty Operations unit is looking for one Operational Analyst responsible for:

• Conducting reviews, tests, and examinations of the transactions through client sampling to ensure established objectives are achieved and that prescribe policies, practices and procedures are.
• Implementing processes to accurately calculate and assess natural gas and by-product Crown royalty and reduce reporting to ensure compliance with the legislation and policies and procedures.
• Actively participating in peer groups, committees, and project teams.
• Verifying the accuracy of the calculation of Crown royalty.
• Providing input to system development, testing and implementation of Gas Royalty business initiatives.
• Providing training to internal and external stakeholders.

Qualifications

High school diploma and four years of related experience in corroborative research and data analysis. Equivalency: Directly related education or related experience may be considered based on

• one year of education for one year of experience; or one year of experience for one year of education.

The following are considered as assets:

• An accounting diploma or Canadian Association of Petroleum Production Accountants (CAPPA) certificate is considered an asset.
• Understanding of financial analysis and problem solving towards issue resolution.
• Strong understanding and knowledge of gas royalty business and industry processes relating to the reporting of gas royalties.
• A sound knowledge of the Mines and Minerals Act, Natural Gas Royalty Regulations and Alberta Natural Gas Royalty Guidelines.
• Experience in working with various MS Office applications, such as Outlook, MS Word, with considerable knowledge using MS Excel.
