Job Title: Manager of Food Programs and Operations
Reports To: Executive Director Location: Nourish Food Bank, Quesnel Employment Type: Full-time (37.5 hours/week), 6-month contract with the possibility of extension Union Status: Excluded Compensation: $35.18 per hour plus benefits
Job Summary
The Manager of Food Programs and Operations is a key leadership role responsible for overseeing the strategic direction, operational management, and program development of Nourish Food Bank . This position ensures that all activities align with CMHA's mission to provide equitable access to nutritious food, foster community partnerships, and address systemic barriers to food security.
The Manager will lead a dedicated team of staff and volunteers, drive innovation in program delivery, and advocate for equity, diversity, and inclusion (EDI) in food systems.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership & Strategy
- Develop and implement Nourish Food Bank's strategic plan in collaboration with the Executive Director and Board of Directors.
- Lead the organization in creating innovative and community-driven solutions to food insecurity, with a focus on EDI principles .
- Represent Nourish Food Bank as a public advocate , fostering relationships with stakeholders, funders, and community members.
- Monitor industry trends and emerging best practices in food security, integrating them into Nourish Food Bank's strategies.
Program Management
- Oversee the design, implementation, and evaluation of food programs to ensure they align with community needs and strategic priorities .
- Collaborate with partner organizations , including local governments and non-profits, to expand access to culturally relevant and nutritious food .
- Lead initiatives that address unique dietary needs and ensure inclusive and accessible food options for all clients.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and regularly assess program effectiveness, making data-driven improvements .
Financial & Operational Oversight
- Develop and manage Nourish Food Bank's annual budget in alignment with strategic priorities.
- Identify and secure funding opportunities through grants, donations, fundraising initiatives, and partnerships .
- Oversee day-to-day operations , including food procurement, inventory management, distribution logistics, and facilities management .
- Ensure compliance with food safety regulations, legal requirements, and operational best practices .
Governance & Reporting
- Work closely with the Executive Director and Clinician , providing regular updates on performance, opportunities, and challenges.
- Prepare reports and insights for Board of Directors meetings and participate in strategic discussions.
Team Leadership & Management
- Lead, mentor, and support a diverse team of staff and volunteers , fostering a collaborative and inclusive work culture.
- Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and professional development of team members.
- Establish performance goals and conduct regular evaluations to ensure accountability and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
- Degree or diploma in Business Administration, Non-Profit Management, Public Health, Social Work, Food Security, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 3-5 years of leadership experience in food security, non-profit management, social services, or community development .
- Experience in program development, budgeting, fundraising, and donor relations .
- Experience working with marginalized communities and applying EDI principles in program development.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong strategic planning and program development skills.
- Knowledge of food security issues, nutrition, food distribution models, and community-based solutions .
- Excellent leadership and team management abilities.
- Strong financial management , including budgeting and grant management .
- Exceptional communication and relationship-building skills.
- Experience with data collection, impact measurement, and reporting .
- Knowledge of food safety regulations and supply chain management .
- Ability to problem-solve creatively in complex situations.

- Valid driver's license and access to a reliable vehicle .
