Position Summary
The Food Preparer E oversees daily cafeteria and catering operations, ensuring the preparation and service of healthy, high-quality meals, maintaining safety, sanitation, and Alberta Health Board standards. Working collaboratively under the direction of teaching staff, they play a vital mentorship role by demonstrating commercial kitchen techniques to Culinary Arts students. This role also manages essential day-to-day logistics including ordering supplies, cash register operation, inventory control, and restocking to ensure kitchen efficiency
Job Duties/Responsibilities
- providing healthy and effective food preparation within the cafeteria
- demonstrating proper food preparation techniques to Culinary Art students
- mentoring students preparing for first year apprenticeship, Skills Canada competitions and students enrolled in dual credit Career Pathways
- maintaining clean and sanitary work areas
- operating the cafeteria cash register and balancing daily cash
- assisting in the preparation and set up of special events and catering services assisting with food ordering and inventory management
Education/Qualifications
- diploma in Culinary Arts, Journeyperson Cook or Baker certification will be considered
- Food Safety Certification or equivalent, First Aid, WHMIS
- minimum two years of food preparation experience
- excellent interpersonal, organization and communication skills
Rate of Pay
$27.30 - $31.79 per hour
