JOB DESCRIPTION
Location: Hybrid | Downtown, Toronto
Duration: 6 Months
Our client, a leading financial institution in Downtown Toronto, is looking for an ETL Developer - GCP, Python, BigQuery to design and implement scalable data architectures, analytical models, and cloud‑native data platforms. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with one of the Top 5 Banks in Canada.
Typical Day in role
- Develop, deploy, and maintain large‑scale ETL/ELT pipelines for batch and streaming data processing.
- Build and manage orchestration workflows.
- Optimize data storage, query performance, and processing efficiency.
- Enable reporting, dashboards, and business intelligence solutions using modern visualization platforms.
- Support DevOps and CI/CD practices for data platforms, including containerization and cloud deployment workflows.
- Contribute to AI and machine learning data workflows, including preparation of training‑ready datasets and prompt‑enabled prototyping.
- Ensure data quality, governance, and metadata management standards are met.
Must Have Skills
- 10+ years of experience in data engineering, ETL development and analytics delivery
- Hands‑on experience with Google Cloud Platform
- Strong proficiency in Python scripting
- Experience working with BigQuery
- Experience with Cloud Composer/Apache Airflow
Nice-To-Have Skills
- Experience in database development
- Experience with Microsoft Azure
- Proficiency in Java, Scala, SQL
- Experience with Dataflow, Dataproc, DBT, Databricks
Soft Skills Required
- Good communication skills
- Team player
- Attention to detail
- Strong analytical skills
Education
- Post Secondary in technical/relevant field
- Certifications in Google Cloud, Azure, and SQL development an asset
