The Role

Work alongside our Development Team and other QA Team members where you will have the opportunity to shape and implement the technology and product deliverables to drive forward Solink’s Product. Your main focus will be testing new and existing Core Applications software features, creating and maintaining test plans for the Core Applications Team, and ensuring high quality throughout the development lifecycle. As gatekeepers of quality, you will increase test coverage, optimize testing with strategic approaches, and proactively identify and mitigate quality risks to deliver a reliable product to our customer.

What You’ll Do

• Lead the QA Strategy: Own and drive the test strategy for the Core Applications team—including test coverage, tooling, automation priorities, and integration into CI/CD pipelines—to enable scalable, efficient, and high-quality releases.

• Champion End-to-End Quality: Ensure excellence across Solink’s customer-facing web and mobile applications by applying both manual and automated testing approaches.

• Execute Comprehensive Testing: Conduct functional, non-functional, and regression testing across frontend and backend components, ensuring systems meet performance and reliability standards.

• Develop Test Coverage Plans: Identify and design thorough test plans, including end-to-end (E2E) tests, with traceability across environments and user journeys.

• Automate with Impact: Build and maintain automated test suites using Python and Playwright, targeting high-risk areas and frequently used workflows to maximize efficiency and coverage.

• Collaborate Across Teams: Work closely with developers and product managers to understand features early, write effective test cases, and advocate for quality from the first planning meeting to final deployment.

• Report and Mitigate Issues: Identify, document, prioritize, and validate defects while proactively managing QA risks and communicating mitigation strategies.

• Become a Platform Expert: Build deep product knowledge by viewing Solink’s SaaS platform through multiple lenses—end users, internal support teams, and customer success managers—to test what truly matters.

• Mentor & Guide: Provide technical guidance and support to junior QA team members, helping build team capability through coaching and knowledge sharing.

• Think Beyond the Obvious: Use exploratory testing and unconventional techniques to uncover edge cases, usability issues, and system weaknesses before users do.

• Continuously Improve: Evaluate and refine QA processes regularly—advocating for better tools, faster workflows, and smarter approaches to testing.

What You Bring

• Experienced QA Professional: You bring 5+ years of experience in both manual and automated software testing, with a strong understanding of how to test frontend and backend systems effectively.

• Python Proficient: You have solid working knowledge of Python and are confident using it to write tests, validate systems, and support automation initiatives.

• Linux Comfortable: You’re familiar with Linux environments and can comfortably navigate, troubleshoot, and test in those systems.

• Video-Savvy: You have experience with video development, video streaming, or testing video pipelines, which gives you a unique edge in validating complex, media-rich applications.

• Cloud-Aware: You have a foundational understanding of AWS and how its services support SaaS platforms, particularly those with IoT components.

• Test Strategy Leader: You’ve created and refined detailed test plans and strategies, balancing manual and automated testing approaches based on risk, efficiency, and coverage.

• Autonomous and Accountable: You independently lead testing efforts, estimate timelines, and actively contribute throughout the development lifecycle—from planning to release.

• QA Strategist: You’re passionate about quality and know when to lean into exploratory testing and when to scale through automation. You stay curious, open to new tools and technologies. You focus on impact, not just coverage.

• Problem Solver with a Positive Attitude: You thrive on complex challenges, bring a “can-do” approach, and are known for being resilient, resourceful, and deeply committed to your craft.

• Detail-Oriented & Analytical: You have strong analytical skills and a keen eye for detail, ensuring issues are not just found but understood and communicated clearly.

Security Requirements

• Candidates must undergo a criminal records check upon hire;

• Be a Canadian Citizen (dual citizens included), or eligible to work in Canada;
