Estimator / Project Manager Support

First Choice Millwork is a Calgary-based commercial millwork manufacturer with a team of about 30 people. We are looking for an Estimator / Project Manager Support team member to prepare accurate project estimates and provide day-to-day support to our Project Management team.

This role is ideal for someone who is organized detail-oriented and comfortable moving between estimating and project management. The position is based in our Calgary office with job-site visits as required.

Estimating Responsibilities

• Review tender documents architectural drawings specifications and project opportunities.
• Complete detailed takeoffs and prepare accurate estimates including materials labour subcontractors and overhead.
• Request review and qualify supplier and subcontractor pricing to ensure alignment with project scope.
• Identify design gaps constructability issues scope concerns and other project risks that may affect cost.
• Ensure estimates meet project specifications and required standards including AWMAC and GIS.
• Prepare organized estimate packages attend site visits as required and support a smooth hand-off to Project Managers.

Project Management Support

• Manage assigned projects by coordinating project deliverables schedules and communication between procurement production shipping/receiving site installation and the client.
• Prepare and coordinate project documentation including RFIs samples shop drawing and hardware submittals client approvals and project close-out documents.
• Prepare and release complete and accurate work-order packages to production and maintain organized current project information and job files.
• Support change orders by obtaining subcontractor pricing tracking costs and schedule impacts and assisting with preparation of subcontractor purchase orders and scheduling.
• Monitor project progress schedules budgets labour safety and quality; communicate updates and follow up on outstanding items to help keep projects on track.
• Work with Project Managers Accounting clients consultants suppliers and subcontractors to support timely progress invoicing resolve issues identify risks and deliver projects on time and on budget.

What You Bring to the Team

• Education & Training: Diploma certificate trade training or related education in construction estimating business or a related field.
• Industry Experience: Experience in estimating project management millwork construction or a related environment is preferred.
• Technical Skills: Comfortable reading architectural drawings and specifications using Microsoft Office and estimating software and working with numbers.
• Attention to Detail: Strong accuracy organization and follow-through with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
• Communication & Teamwork: Clear professional communication and the ability to work effectively with clients consultants vendors subcontractors and internal teams.
• Site Readiness: Valid Alberta Class 5 drivers licence reliable transportation and willingness to travel to job sites as required.
