How to become a Pet handler

The preferred candidate for the position of Pet Handler should demonstrate exceptional proficiency in managing and caring for animals, displaying strong skills in handling various types and breeds, maintaining a safe environment for pets, ensuring proper exercise and nutrition, and demonstrating empathy towards animals’ needs and behaviors.

Hard skills:

  1. Animal Handling Expertise - Ability to safely and effectively handle a variety of animals, including domesticated and wild species
  2. Feeding and Grooming Knowledge - Understanding of animal nutrition, dietary requirements and methods of grooming
  3. Training Skills - Proficiency in applying positive reinforcement training techniques to pet animals
  4. Veterinary Care Awareness - Knowledge of basic veterinary care for animals, including administering medications and recognizing signs of distress
  5. Cleaning and Sanitization - Ability to maintain clean and hygienic living environments for animals
  6. Record Keeping Practices - Familiarity with the process of creating and updating records related to animal care
