Lifeguards at Canatara Beach are responsible for maintaining a safe environment by providing necessary supervision, protection, and rescue efforts for beachgoers, in accordance with recognized lifeguarding procedures. Lifeguards also contribute to ensuring our beaches are clean and safe places for people to enjoy their summer days.

Our lifeguards require attention to detail and poise in high stress situations. Interacting closely with the public requires excellent customer service skills to handle difficult situations, and the ability to remain alert and calm at all times is essential.

Beach lifeguards are required to be available to work a variety of scheduled shifts, including days and weekends.

Additionally, all lifeguards must be available to attend mandatory orientation, which will be scheduled prior to the term start date.

National Lifeguard - Waterfront

Shifts are generally 6.5 hours and can be scheduled between the hours of 10:30 a.m. – Full time average 5-6 shifts per week

Part time average 2-3 shifts per week, with an opportunity to pick up additional hours/shifts
