QC & Supplier Quality Specialist

Location : Plattsburgh, NY (potential travel to Canada, including overnight) Employment Type : Full-Time Salary Range : $26.00 - $29.00 per hour Start Date : April 2025 About the Roles: Micro Bird USA LLC is seeking a hands-on Supplier Quality Technician to be responsible for supporting the Supplier Quality Supervisor by assisting with material inspections, testing, and ensuring that all materials supplied for production meet the required specifications, quality standards, and compliance regulations. The role requires a high level of attention to detail, the ability to work well with both internal teams and external suppliers, including travel to vendor locations in the US and Canada with overnight stays when required, and a commitment to maintaining a safe and high-quality work environment. Assist in conducting inspections and tests on raw materials, components, and parts to verify compliance with quality standards and specifications. This includes performing physical, chemical, and visual tests to assess material properties.
Support the sampling of materials according to company procedures and industry standards. Maintain accurate records of test results, inspection findings, and quality control reports for analysis and tracking.
Work alongside the Supplier Quality Supervisor to liaise with suppliers, ensuring timely delivery of materials that meet quality standards. Assist in identifying quality issues and resolving discrepancies with suppliers.
Conduct thorough inspections of incoming materials, components, and finished goods to verify compliance with technical specifications and quality standards before they are accepted into inventory.
Help identify non-conforming materials and document any discrepancies. Assist in working with purchasing and production teams to resolve material-related issues.
Contact suppliers directly to notify them of MRB-rejected materials or parts that do not meet quality standards.
Coordinate with suppliers to facilitate repairs, replacements, or return of non-conforming materials. Ensure timely follow-up with suppliers to track progress on corrective actions and repair or replacement activities.
Collaborate with suppliers to determine root causes of quality issues and implement preventive measures to reduce recurrence.
Support the review of material certification documents and verify compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., Collaborate with cross-functional teams to investigate material-related issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions to improve material quality.
Assist in managing the quality of inventory materials by ensuring proper storage and performing periodic audits to prevent contamination or deterioration.
Participate in continuous improvement efforts to enhance material quality processes. Suggest improvements in testing methods, processes, or tools.
Ensure that testing equipment is properly calibrated, maintained, and functioning to ensure accurate testing results.
Assist in the training of production staff and other departments on material quality standards, testing techniques, and the proper handling of materials.
Foster positive relationships with internal teams, suppliers, and external stakeholders. Promote safety practices and ensure that materials and processes comply with safety standards. Prioritize safety in all aspects of the role, including inspections and interactions with suppliers and coworkers.

2+ years of experience in a quality control or material testing role, preferably in manufacturing or the automotive industry.

Associate degree or certification in Materials Science, Quality Assurance, Engineering Technology, or a related field is preferred. In lieu of education, we will consider equivalent work experience
Proficiency in using material testing equipment and tools (e.g., hardness testers, microscopes, tensile testing machines).
Ability to read and interpret technical specifications, drawings, and material certificates.
Strong analytical skills with a detail-oriented approach to material quality assessment.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with internal teams and suppliers.
