Recruitment Specialist, Human Resources

Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS) is one of the largest school divisions in Alberta serving the education needs of approximately 17750 students in 43 schools. We pride ourselves on providing staff and students with the tools to achieve success by offering dynamic programming current resources and practical professional learning opportunities.
EIPS is recruiting a full-time term certain Recruiter with our Human Resources department (HR) located at Central Services.
- 37.5 hours per week (Monday to Friday 7.5 hours per day)
- Human Resources is located at the EIPS Central Administration building in Sherwood Park at 683 Wye Road. The departments include Education Executive Communication Services Facility Services Student Transportation Human Resources Financial Services Supports for Students and Information Technologies 17 work in the Human Resources department.
The Human Resources (HR) Recruiter is responsible for overseeing the entire recruitment cycle and associated processes and contributing to the operational effectiveness of Elk Island Public Schools (EIPS). The position maintains professional effective stakeholder relationships participates in career fairs and serves as the first point of contact for prospective EIPS employees. The HR Recruiter advises on recruitment strategies supports the onboarding process for new hires and ensures all recruitment activities comply with applicable legislation the collective agreement and EIPS administrative procedures. Recruitment Process
Manage recruitment processes:
Advise hiring supervisors/managers on EIPS recruitment processes and in developing strategies and plans.
Create effective recruitment postings and advertisements.
Plan and schedule interviews prepare interview materials and arrange interview logistics.
Facilitate negotiations with the top candidate and advise on pre-hire document requirements including criminal record check and vulnerable sector check.
Close the recruitment file.
Serve as the primary HR for contact recruiting substitute teachers and substitute support staff in schools.
Support hiring managers ensure recruitment workflow proceeds as planned and address any issues as needed.
Assist potential and successful candidates with HR inquiries and related issues.
Recruitment Strategies and Sourcing
Advise supervisors on staffing matters and HR best practices for recruitment.
Ensure compliance with related legislation including Human Rights Privacy Labour and Employment Standards collective agreement and EIPS administrative procedures.
Source and attract candidate applications using various methods and sources (social media job sites professional sites etc.).
Establish internal and external contacts for candidate referrals and help maintain a strong candidate pool.
Collaborate with Communications on developing recruitment messaging career fair campaign materials and strategy and targeting candidates for hard-to-fill positions.
Recommend improvements to recruitment and onboarding processes for efficiency and to help attract and retain candidates.
Advise internal and external stakeholders on the EIPS applicant tracking system and HRMS.
Training and Administration
Provide input into the annual EIPS recruiting plan and recruiting budget.
Facilitate professional learning presentations related to resume writing interview tips and career development.
Collaborate with the Director on professional learning presentations to EIPS supervisors on recruitment best practices EIPS administrative procedures and recruitment processes including how to use applicant tracking software.
Prepares statistical reports from HRMS and other projects as assigned.
Support or participate in various HR department and division initiatives and workplace activities.
Manage recruitment records files and documents ensuring access to information and compliance with administrative procedures and relevant legislation such as the Access to Information Act (ATIA) and the Protection of Privacy Act (POPA).
Identify recruitment records eligible for disposal complete records disposition requests and dispose of records as per administrative procedures and applicable legislation.
Minimum Required: Certificate or Diploma in Human Resources or related field.
Registered Professional Recruitment Designation.
Minimum Required: 3 years experience in an HR environment.
Previous experience within a school division
Knowledge of recruitment best practices procedures and applicable legislation.
Ability to successfully work in a team environment as well as independently with minimal supervision.
Excellent accuracy attention to detail and quality of work output.
Project planning and coordination skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and web-based applications.
Prefered: Working knowledge of applicant tracking systems and Human Resources Management Systems (HRMS).
