Job Opportunity Ancillary Services - Residence Services - Union (USW Local 1998) Posting Date: July 5, 2024 Closing Date: July 21, 2024 Position Title: Part-time Residence Services Desk Attendant (Weekend Evenings) Pay Scale Group: USW Pay Band 4 Department: Ancillary Services - Residence Services Pay Rate: Hourly: Probationary $23.94 - After 480 Hours $25.86 - After 2080 Hours $28.95 Type of Appointment: Term - 1 Year Contract Normal Work Schedule: Part-time Weekend Evenings (16-24 hours per week), 3:00 pm to 11:30 pm. Under the general direction of the Residence Services Supervisor and Manager, and adhering to established policies and procedures to ensure the seamless functioning of the Victoria University Front Desk at Margaret Addison Hall, the Resident Services Attendant will be responsible for a diverse set of duties, including: welcoming students, community members and guests, managing key distribution, maintaining parking operations, performing check-ins/outs, posting charges to the relevant StarRez accounts. Additionally, the position is responsible for directing incoming calls appropriately, responding to inquiries, and triaging emergency response calls. During the summer months, the Residence Services Attendant would assist with the operations of the Hotel and Conference business. As this role requires interaction with a diverse group of people, particularly young adults, the individual must be able to maintain a professional demeanor and be approachable, courteous, and tactful. They should be dependable, remain composed during challenging situations while effectively operating with minimal supervision, and promptly address any concerns or complaints raised by clients. In a fast-paced, multitasking, and multicultural environment, the individual must utilize independent judgment/decision making, utilizing all available resources to solve problems proactively and establish positive relationships with students, community members, and guests while adapting to changes and evolving circumstances. Education Community College Diploma/Certificate with some courses in hospitality and accounting or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience 1-year Hotel, Residence Services or Customer Service experience Other
Demonstrated exceptional customer service skills, specifically acquired through frontline interactions with students and the public
Proficiency in accounting and bookkeeping tasks, including: cash sheet preparation and deposits
Proficient in MS Office Programs: Microsoft Excel and Word
Experience with access control software, housing software, and Point of Sale machines is an asset
