Process the registration of patients admitted to or treated in either an inpatient bed, emergency room, day surgery, endoscopy suite, or emergency managed clinic in an expedient, professional and courteous manner. Post-Secondary School Education in medical secretary/medical transcription or equivalent combination of education (minimum of grade 12) and relative working experience.
Must have demonstrated typing and other basic clerical skills including computer/word processing, e-mail and faxing experience.
Medical Terminology course completed through a recognized college.
Registers patients visiting Emergency and Out-patients, including Same Day Surgery, Diagnostic Imaging, Lab and clinics.
Arrange for non-urgent patient transfers.
Arranges for bookings of various clinics.
Directs patients and visitors to nursing units and other departments.
Scans hardcopy patient documents into Hospital Information System.
Answers phone and manages calls regarding Patient Registration concerns, forwards calls as required.
Acquires Preferred Accommodation signatures from Inpatients and their families and records in Hospital Information System.
Provides remote registration support for Q7 and other sites as necessary.
