LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE- Overnights

Wetaskiwin has an exciting opportunity for an LPN in their Emergency/Outpatients Department! Wetaskiwin Emergency Department (ED) is a 22 bed unit with specialty clinics including Urology, Cardiology and Surgical. As an LPN in our ED and member of our nursing care team, your Emergency Department experience will be valuable in our busy department. You will also demonstrate genuine interest and respect for our patients and utilize your knowledge, skills, and abilities to competently provide direct patient and family centered care. You may also be required to share your skills and experience on the acute care units. Wetaskiwin is located 70 km south of Edmonton in the heart of Central Alberta. The city name comes from the Cree word which means “the hills where peace was made”. You can take a self-guided tour through the historic downtown and read about the peace cairn that commemorates sixty years of peace between the Blackfoot and the Cree. Wetaskiwin has an extensive trail system that leads you around the entire city with a direct connection to By-the-Lake Park. Year-round markets provide citizens and visitors with fresh fruit, produce and many different homemade items. As a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), you are part of an interprofessional health care team, utilizing nursing processes, critical thinking, problem solving, and decision making skills. You will be guided by your education, experience, and demonstrated skill level, in alignment with applicable legislation, standards of practice, policies, and procedures. You will play a key role in providing safe, high quality, patient and family centred care while reflecting the shared vision and values of the organization.

Required Qualifications

Completion of an accredited practical nurse education program. Active or eligible for registration and a practice permit as a Licensed Practical Nurse with the College of LPNs and HCAs of Alberta (CLHA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support - Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP).

Preferred Qualifications

One Year experience as an LPN in Emergency Department. CTAS- Canadian Triage and Acuity Scale certification in the last 2 years. ACLS - Advanced Cardiac Support. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention Training Course.
