Reporting to the Manager of Environmental Services and Sustainability the Environmental Services Worker maintains cleanliness in all hospital locations. A clean environment helps provide a positive experience for our patients and families and our employees physicians and volunteers. Activities include cleaning mopping and dusting all areas in the hospital. Other work includes but is not limited to floorcare (scrubbing and waxing floors) shampooing of carpets and chairs waste removal (hazardous waste and regular waste) chemical spill clean-up laundry tasks room set-ups window cleaning (interior) some salt application during winter months isolation room cleaning floor and blood spill clean-ups. The Environmental Services Worker will also work towards a healthier environment by reducing our carbon footprint and going green as per the IWKs strategy.
Variable shifts will be available.
Previous experience in a healthcare setting is considered an asset.
Ability to organize prioritize and maintain the functioning of the unit in an organized safe and clean manner.
Strong interpersonal and relationship-building skills.
Functions independently with minimal supervision.
