The Intermediate Portfolio Underwriter will be responsible for completing an in-depth evaluation of our current book of business and identifies gaps in coverage to be sure risks qualify based on Market appetites and industry regulations. Additionally, Underwriters must stay updated with industry regulations and market trends to effectively manage risks and comply with legal standards. The Intermediate Portfolio Underwriter will communicate with the market regarding any questions, or possible scalations, while ensuring accurate communication, and maintaining high standards in underwriting procedures. What does the Intermediate Portfolio Underwriter do?

Evaluates and analyzes insurance applications to determine risk, eligibility, and completion

Demonstrate excellent customer service when interacting with all Brokers & Market Partners

Process an average of 10 policy reviews daily, ensuring coverage is accurate and complete

Handles Administrative tasks associated with the Portfolio Underwriting Team, when required

Initiate outgoing phone calls to our market partners with inquiries as required

Monitor & action emails, voicemails, phone calls, and Teams messages

Participate in Personal Lines team meetings, as needed

Able to evaluate and assess risk accurately

Solid understanding of insurance principles and underwriting processes

Commitment to continuous learning and staying updated with industry trends and regulatory changes

Post-secondary education in Insurance, Business/Office Administration, Economics, Law, Finance, or related field an asset

A minimum of at least 2+ years of experience working as a Personal Lines underwriter

RIBO licensed an asset

Chartered Insurance Professional (CIP) professional designation an asset

Canadian Accredited Insurance Broker (CAIB) professional designation an asset
