QC Laboratory Technician- Night Shift

Our customer, a major oil and gas company, is currently looking for a Lab Technician for their busy facility for a 1 year contract. The successful candidate will hold a minimum of 5 years analytical and QA/QC experience, preferably in a SAGD facility. This position is based out of Fort McMurray, Alberta. The work schedule is 14 days on and 14 days off, working day and night shifts. This is a fly in and fly out position.

Responsibilities
Identifies and helps develop work process improvements and efficiencies for the maintenance processes.
Executes maintenance and repair of general equipment in accordance with established procedures and guidelines.
Ensures that the required level of productivity, quality, safety and environmental standards are achieved.
Ensures all the Areas work is completed in line with the Discipline Specialists Best practice guidelines.
Establishes and facilitates team work and knowledge transfer between the area and specialist groups.
Coach Technicians, and working with them to develop training plans.
Ensures maintenance activities are carried out to the highest safety and environmentally ethical standards.
Understands plant & instrument diagrams.

Basic/Required Qualifications

• Minimum Chemistry technology / Laboratory technology degree; diploma or equivalent
• This is a safety sensitive position
• 5-7 years of experience
• Provides technical and/or administrative support
• Demonstrates the ability to learn terminology, applications and standard procedures for performing the job function
• Performs routine, basic office/field tasks using established procedures
• Legally authorized to work in Canada on a full-time basis without restrictions

Preferred Qualifications
Diverse knowledge of laboratory service facilities in SAGD refinery or process plant sectors.
Experience in laboratory QA/QC program implementation
Experience in troubleshooting, modification and validation of process or waste water methods
Candidates are subject to background checks including criminal and drug and alcohol testing.
