Yukon Human Rights Commission
The Yukon Human Rights Commission is seeking a dedicated and organized Administrative Officer to join our team. Reporting to the Director of Human Rights the Administrative Officer will provide a wide range of administrative financial and operational services to ensure the smooth day-to-day functioning of the office consistent processes and excellent service to the public.
This role involves reception duties office administration document services basic bookkeeping data entry and analysis and other clerical tasks. Additionally the position includes coordinating telecommunications security contractors and other service providers recommending cost-saving measures and leading operational improvement initiatives.
The Commission is a small and impactful organisation that was created in 1987 to promote equality and diversity through research education and enforcement of the Yukon Human Rights Act (the Act ). Provide reception services to the public staff and stakeholders including secretariat-type work for appointed Commission members.
Assist with scheduling appointments arranging meetings training travel compiling background materials and event coordination.
Provide financial reports and recommendations for process improvements.
Participate in management meetings to provide financial insights and assist in planning.
Manage records mailing lists databases and operational manuals.
Apply a trauma-informed discrete respectful fair and consistent approach when dealing with the public.
Represent the Commission when working with community organizations government agencies advocacy groups and other stakeholders.
1-3 years of experience in administrative roles preferably in a governmental or non-profit organization.
- Experience with basic bookkeeping and financial management tasks.
- Experience providing front-line customer service handling inquiries and resolving issues.
- Experience coordinating meetings events and projects including scheduling logistics and follow-up.
Asset Experience:
Experience leading office operations and providing administrative support to senior management.
Excellent written and verbal communication abilities including drafting proofreading and formatting diverse documents.
Proficiency in office software (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite).
Understanding of office administration procedures and best practices.
Knowledge of records management and information systems.
Asset Knowledge and Skills:
Familiarity with financial software and tools.
Familiarity with database management and basic IT support.
A high school diploma or equivalent is required.
Professional certification and/or post-secondary education in a related field is an asset.
