Our programs and supports are designed to build new skills to foster healthy productive lifestyles and to improve access to services within our community. We are seeking a self-directed engaging empathetic Full Time Child and Youth Support Worker to join our growing team. Reporting to the Program Coordinator the Child and Youth Support Worker monitors and attends to the well-being and safety of all persons residing in specialized home support services maintaining a supportive non-judgmental inclusive comfortable clean and safe living environment. The program located in Langley is a 24-hour emergency receiving home for youth between the ages of 12 to 19 who are in need of short-term stabilization.

Child and Youth Support Workers work with some of the most vulnerable and complex youth in the care of or on a Youth Agreement with the Ministry of Children and Family Development. Applicants should be able to demonstrate experience in meeting youth where theyre at recognition of the ongoing influence of trauma and disconnection on the youth served and support building on youths strengths and passions to create meaning. Delivery of these services must be provided with an understanding of the ongoing effects of trauma isolation and vulnerability.

Engaging with program participants to ensure personal needs are met by promoting life skills (ex. basic personal hygiene preparing healthy and nutritious meals access to community resources.)
Ensuring cupboards containing biohazardous materials medications sharps or cleaners are secured and accounted for.

• May be required to complete room bag or personnel checks to ensure safety of youth staff and home environment.
• Records reports and responds to potential health and safety risks within home.

o Completes and reports sharps counts once per shift.
Responds to emergencies in accordance with established policies and procedures including proper notifications (supervisor MCFD other professionals etc.).
Engages with participants in the development of their individualized service plan including intake assessment goal setting progress and transition planning.
Participates in petty cash reconciliation.
Monitors program participants medications in accordance with established policy guidelines and training.
Performs housekeeping duties in support of health and safety regulations. Certificate/Diploma in a related human/social service field
Training and Experience
Or an equivalent combination of education training and experience
Food Safety certificate

Must possess a working knowledge of computers (Microsoft Word/Excel/Teams).
Ability to be flexible resourceful and possess good time management skills.
Ability to perform tasks involving physical activity including lifting and bending.
Demonstrated knowledge and application of trauma-informed and culturally safe principles of care.
Demonstrated knowledge of relevant Acts pertinent regulations policy procedures and other statutory and certification requirements (such as the Mental Health Act; Adult Guardianship Act; Child Family and Community Service Act; Knowledge of systemic issues and risk factors facing underrepresented racialized neurodiverse 2SLGBTQIA individuals and communities.

Must possess a valid BC Class 5 Drivers license have a reliable vehicle Business Insurance and acceptable drivers abstract.
