Position Description A temporary full time (1.0) PHE/TAG Teacher is required by School District No. Kearney Middle School.
Kearney Middle School is a vibrant middle school offering classes in grades 7-9. We enroll a diverse student population of 600, 25% of whom are of Indigenous descent. We have an active Parent Advisory Committee and a supportive parent community. Our school is committed to student-centered learning, a focus on collaborative planning, and a caring environment to provide quality education. Our other exciting opportunities for students include our outstanding visual and performing arts programs, Hockey Academy, and the range of other extracurricular opportunities available to students, including volleyball, basketball, cross-country running and track and field. Valid BC Ministry of Education Teaching Certificate (or eligible for)
Experience/training/knowledge of Social Emotional Learning. Demonstrated ability to create a positive classroom community contributing to a safe, caring, and healthy school where every student feels a sense of belonging
Strong belief in the philosophy of inclusion and the potential of all students to learn
Understanding of the BC Curriculum and ability to plan both short-term and long-term in consideration of class composition
Willingness to work in a collaborative model with staff on the foundation of enhancing student learning
Familiar with House systems and TAG
Willingness and desire to be a teacher advisor
Verification of qualifications (BC Teacher Certificate)
2000 relocation allowance for teachers from BC, AB and Yukon and up to $4000 for teachers from other areas
- $3,035 recruitment allowance (paid over 10 months of the school year, based on the FTE)
