Job Summary Student Affairs is a collection of integrated units that collaborates with faculty, staff and students to enhance the student experience. We promote an inclusive, holistic and student-centric approach to learning and academic success and act as a professional resource in the delivery of evidence-based student enrolment, wellness, development and academic support programs and services. Reporting to the Manager, Student Success Advising, the Student Success Advisor will promote student success and retention, working intentionally, guided by measurable learning outcomes, to assist students with making informed decisions in the co-creation of meaningful educational plans. Provide holistic advising to the student population, taking into consideration students' academic and career goals, interests and strengths over the course of the student life cycle.
Support students in transition (into university and within programs), transfer students, and students “at risk,” by taking a positive and strengths-based approach. Facilitate the development, implementation and assessment of programs and services that promote student learning, development and retention.
analyze data, ensure proactive follow up, propose process improvement opportunities; submit reports and ensure accurate data collection.
Some weekend and evening work may be required. Undergraduate degree in a related field with three to five years' experience working with students in a post-secondary setting (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
Previous experience in academic and/or career advising/counseling.
Ability to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills to interact with diverse constituents and to provide high quality support and service to students.
