64,356.82 - $94,153.39 annually which includes a Market Adjustment of up to $270.31 bi-weekly and a $10,000 recruitment and incentive payment. Eligible employees will receive the recruitment and incentive payment of $10,000 annually (payable in two semi-annual installments of $5,000 and pro-rated for partial periods of employment), as well as a benefits package worth up to $19,851 annually. (New recruits are paid $60,919.30 annually during the 33-day training program).

Adult Custody Division

Welcome to the Adult Custody Division team. As an employee at one of ten correctional centres, you will work alongside a team of correctional officers towards the common goal of maintaining the safety and security of the individuals in our custody. Correctional officers have the opportunity to rotate through designated posts in several departments, each of which is overseen by a correctional supervisor and the broader management team to provide direction and guidance. Through this process, correctional officers collaborate with numerous professionals committed to the same purpose, including educators, health professionals, chaplains, Indigenous Cultural Liaisons, volunteers and community partners.

The Adult Custody correctional officer is responsible for maintaining the security and safety of individuals in custody through pro-social modelling, program delivery, and offering positive guidance and clear direction. This role offers an opportunity to work in multiple departments within the correctional centre alongside a team of dedicated professionals. As a correctional officer you will have the opportunity to utilize and strengthen your skills in communication, conflict resolution, and leadership.

Adult Custody Division, part of BC Corrections, is responsible for the care and custody of approximately 2,800 individuals and plays a leading role in the criminal justice system.

Grade 12 English with a final grade of 70% or equivalent*

• Valid BC Driver's license (minimum class 5), or equivalent from another province.
• Canadian Citizenship or minimum 3-years of Permanent Resident status in Canada.

Note: Current BC Correctional Officers with Adult Custody Division are deemed to meet the initial requirements for the role and will be exempt from the screening/assessment stages preceding the interview.

There are multiple regular full-time positions available, based out of the location listed above.

This position has full time on-site requirements.

Correctional centres are 24-hour operations. Successful applicants will be required to work evenings/weekends/holidays and a variety of shift patterns.

An eligibility list may be established to fill both current and/or future permanent vacancies.

Enhanced Security Screening will be required.

Employees of the BC Public Service must be located in BC at the time of employment.
