Culinary Arts Teacher Location Hamilton, ON L9C 1G3 : About Hillfield Strathallan College Founded in 1901, Hillfield Strathallan College (HSC) offers a seamless academic journey from 18 months to 18 years. Located on a 50-acre campus on Hamilton's West Mountain, HSC provides a unique educational pathway for students through four school offerings: Junior, Montessori, Middle and Senior. Hillfield Strathallan College is seeking a dynamic and passionate Culinary Arts Teacher to join our Senior School team beginning September 2025. This position includes teaching four sections of Culinary Arts across Grades 10, 11, and 12 (TFJ2O, TFJ3C, and TFJ4C).
The Culinary Arts program at HSC invites students to explore the intersection of food, culture, sustainability, and innovation. Through hands-on, experiential learning in our fully equipped teaching kitchen, students gain practical skills while engaging in broader conversations around nutrition, community, entrepreneurship, and global awareness.
The successful candidate will work within a collaborative department and school community that encourages cross-curricular learning and values the unique contributions of every student and teacher.
Deliver engaging, inclusive instruction in Culinary Arts for students in Grades 10-12
Maintain a safe, professional, and well-organized kitchen learning environment
Integrate themes such as sustainability, food systems, and cultural cuisine into the curriculum
Participate in co-curricular life and contribute to a vibrant school community
Collaborate with colleagues and support the broader goals of the Senior School
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field or equivalent culinary designation
Ontario Certificate of Teaching (OCT) or equivalent
Experience teaching Culinary Arts courses (TFJ2O, TFJ3C, TFJ4C)
Recent industry experience in culinary arts, hospitality, or food service
Familiarity with experiential, inquiry-based, and project-based learning approaches
Experience integrating diversity, equity, and inclusion into instructional practices
Interest in contributing to co-curricular initiatives, such as clubs, house events, or community programming
Salary: $44,214 to $120,828 (will be prorated to teaching assignment)
