Bylaw Patroller
The City of Delta is seeking reliable, self-motivated individuals to join the Property Use & Compliance Department on a temporary/auxiliary basis as Bylaw Patrollers. This seasonal assignment runs from April through late September. For the first two months, shifts are limited to weekends only. Beginning in mid-June, the schedule will expand to include evenings, weekends, and public holidays, with up to a maximum of 35 hours per week.
The successful candidates will patrol parks throughout Delta and engage with the public to promote and achieve compliance with the Parks Bylaw, Animal Control Bylaw, and Highways Bylaw. You will receive training and authorization to issue warnings or Bylaw Enforcement Notices for specific offences under these bylaws.
Candidates must be able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, and interact with the public in a diplomatic, tactful, and discreet manner. They must also be able to interpret and explain bylaws, policies, and regulations.
Previous experience working with the public and relevant post-secondary education is an asset. A valid Class 5 BC Driver’s Licence in good standing is required, along with the ability to ride a bicycle off-road. The successful candidate will be required to wear a uniform, which will be provided.
Applicants must submit a current (five years history) with their application. Applications submitted without a Driver’s Record will be deemed incomplete and will not be considered.
The City of Delta provides a competitive salary of $30.41 - $35.72 per hour (2024 rates) + 12% in lieu of vacation, public holidays and benefits. Interested applicants are requested to apply online by March 3, 2026.
