Field Deployment Technician

We are seeking to hire a full-time permanent Field Operations Technician based in Calgary Red Deer or Edmonton AB. Reporting into the Field Operations Manager you will be responsible for the hands-on day-to-day integration repair and maintenance of the Xplore network. This position acts as a prime in-field technical contact for support groups in the areas of network construction repair maintenance and support.
This role requires basic knowledge of IP Networking working knowledge of both fixed wireless and Fibre optic network deployments as well as a basic knowledge of telecom construction and tower rigging. This position will involve both on call support and off-hours maintenance work. Some overnight travel is a requirement and you must be willing to adapt to flexible work schedule. Capable of working on a variety of projects and coordinating multiple priorities
Aptitude in IP networking which includes IP addressing and basic routing
Fibre Optic and copper cabling punching proper cable pulling techniques racking ground systems static precautions non-ionizing transmission safety Occupational Health and safety as it relates to construction
Strong understanding around AC and DC power systems and conversions including: voltage and wiring of single and poly-phase alternating current cables direct current and negative grounded direct current
Experience with the construction and maintenance of communication tower sites
1-year related work experience or a degree/diploma from a related discipline
Experience with fixed wireless and Fibre optic network deployments
Experience handling configuring and installing Network Equipment (ex. Certified Fibre Optic Technician (CFOT) or equivalent experience would be an asset
Experience with Fibre Optic troubleshooting tools & test sets (OTDR Power Meters)
Working knowledge of networking technologies including TCP/IP routers switches DHCP
Basic understanding of fixed wireless/ Fibre Optic network architecture and infrastructure.
Ability to work away from home. Long days & weekends as required
