Labourer - Student
City of Kitchener
Overview
Working with the Cemeteries team, the summer students will assist with the maintenance and general care for City of Kitchener cemeteries.
(Temporary Full Time for Approximately 4 Months)
Responsibilities
Maintains flower beds and hanging baskets; plants, weeds, and provides general care and maintenance of a mixed perennial, bi-annual and annual plant material.
Waters and fertilizers plant material as required.
Collects and removes debris/litter (site beautification).
Operates grass cutting equipment (push mower), leaf blower, and gas-powered line trimmer.
Clears woodchip walking paths; collects and removes debris.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education
~ Minimum equivalent to partial secondary school education.
Experience
~ Minimum 1 month of related experience.
Additional Requirements
Preference will be given to candidates with a valid MTO “G2” class driver’s license in good standing and ability to provide Drivers Abstract at your own expense as a condition of employment.
Must be flexible to work varying shifts, & rotational duties, weekends.
Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities
Ability to perform physical labour in a variety of outdoor conditions.
Ability to work in a team environment and follow directions.
Good verbal and written communication skills and ability to keep accurate written records.
