Manufacturing Engineering Specialist: Assembly

Manufacturing Engineering Location Owen Sound, ON N4K 1H1 : Position: MANUFACTURING ENGINEERING Shifts Available: Day Shift - 8:00 a.m. 5 x 8-hour shifts, Monday to Friday)

MacLean Engineering & Marketing Co. Limited is looking for an experienced Manufacturing Engineering to join our team at our Owen Sound, ON manufacturing facility. About the Position : The Manufacturing Engineering role is to be the liaison between Engineering and the Manufacturing teams with a focus on improving manufacturing processes to increase productivity and reduce costs as well as develop strategies for improving quality and reducing defects. Using SolidWorks, add manufacturing details to existing drawings, and to new designs, to outline the optimal manufacturing process for welding, machining, electrical / mechanical assembly, and paint

Jig, fixture, part and process design using SolidWorks or AutoCAD, and coordinating release into production with ECN

Identify and define incident-based & systematic problems, and implement temporary corrective actions & containment

Assess manufacturability & manufacturing structure for new products, existing products, insourcing and outsourcing

Estimate timelines pertaining to manufacturing, rework, design, and other related activity

Strictly follow safety requirements, including but not limited to wearing PPE, assessing hazards, & ensuring best practices are being followed

Display strong written & verbal communication skills, particularly in the area of technical writing

Respond to problems / exceptions and initiate NCR, interim actions, and containment.

Coordinate containment in multiple facilities and branches as required

Complete detailed root cause analysis to identify areas where corrective actions and OFI's can be implemented.

Evaluate and communicate with Production group(s) & department Managers and work constructively to investigate root cause and determine corrective actions to implement effective change and error proofing to reduce risk of Operator Errors.

Manage large projects pertaining to Product, Process, Capital Equipment, Systems, and other categories as assigned

Update drawing details in SolidWorks & AutoCAD to provide clarity or specification, not including structural or functional details

Attend vendor facilities as required to resolve issues

Develop & Implement Quality Assurance programs within all processes to improve product quality and process quality performance.

Assist in development and implementation of a fully integrated MQS.

Provide accurate Contract Manufacturing estimation & quotation & manage quoted product from initiation to completion & maintain accountability for quoted vs. Identify improvement opportunities, present ROI to all levels of management, manage implementation, and measure results for significant cost reduction, quality / safety improvement, efficiency improvement, or other improvement categories as applicable

Communicate 'Operator Error' to Operator group(s) without confrontation and work constructively to accomplish correction and change culture as applicable

Create & implement drawing standards within MPE and consult with other peer groups to implement same

Assist Product Management group with Customer factory inspection visits.

Effectively communicate updates, issues and OFI's with other MPE Teams in other Facilities

Capable of leading and implementing Lean/Agile Manufacturing practices.

Assist with plant layouts and material flow to ensure efficiency.

About You : The successful candidate has a positive attitude, is open minded, willing to learn and is flexible along with the following qualifications:

Minimum High School Diploma or Certificate of Completion

Trade Certification in any recognized discipline would be an asset

Training / certification in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, MS Excel, MS Project is an asset

Training / certification in Drawing / drafting Techniques, Root Cause Analysis, Value Stream Mapping, Process Flow definition, Project Management, Planning & Scheduling, Manufacturing Estimating is an asset

Five (5) + years' Experience using SolidWorks or AutoCAD

Five (5) + years Hands on experience and exposure in a conventional Heavy Equipment Manufacturing environment

Or Eight (8)+ years' Experience working in any Manufacturing or Industrial setting

Trade experience in any Mechanical or Electrical discipline would be an asset
