Interior Design Specialist

Your new company Hays is partnered with a well-regarded Calgary-based interior design studio specializing in commercial, corporate, and workplace environments. The team works closely with clients to create thoughtful, high-performing spaces that enhance productivity, well-being, and collaboration, combining workplace strategy with strong design execution across sectors including corporate office, healthcare, retail, and multi-family. With their recent move to a new office, they’re now looking to add an Intermediate or Senior Interior Designer to their close-knit, collaborative team.

In your role, you will be responsible for collaborating with clients and the design team to create functional and aesthetically pleasing spaces. You will be responsible for all stages of the design process, from conceptualization to project completion. You will advise clients on space planning, layout and use of furnishings or equipment, interior finish selections and coordination, review details of technical drawings or specifications and review of shop drawings during construction for compliance with working drawings. You will coordinate and collaborate with other professionals, such as contractors, architects, engineers, and trades involved in the project. Estimate project budget costs for use during Design Development, present design alternatives and solutions to client for approval, render design ideas in form of paste-ups or drawings and produce construction documents. Guidance and mentorship to Junior Designers is a key piece to this role as it has growth potential for the future to mold into something more senior

The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5 years’ experience of Interiors in Canada and a strong understanding of the local building codes in Calgary. Intermediate and Senior level candidates will be considered. Registered Interior Designer with the AAA or have an NCIDQ Certification, is a major asset but not required. You will have a Diploma or Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited Interior Deign program. You must have proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, SketchUp, and Microsoft Office and various Design software/programs. The successful candidate with have a strong design portfolio showcasing a range of project types and styles and be able to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Critical thinking skills with the ability to work with minimal supervision.

The successful candidate will receive an attractive compensation package of $70K-$90K (based on experience), extended benefits and a flexible working environment.
