The Institute for Mental Health Policy Research (IMHPR) at the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health is home to leading scientific experts dedicated to informing policy and practice on mental illness and substance use disorders. IMHPR scientists conduct collaborative research on communities populations health systems and global health and develop and evaluate prevention and intervention initiatives to reduce mental health and substance use challenges. IMHPR is committed to equity informed by the social determinants of health.
IMHPR is seeking a Research Associate 2 for a casual position to support an ongoing research initiative that requires a strong background in quantitative research involving group level (i.e. nested) data focusing on sexual violence in drinking establishments. The project is supported by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research and focuses on the analysis of quantitative data collected from groups of young adults in a bar district.
This position will assist with data management and analyses using hierarchical linear modelling (HLM). More specifically the Research Associate 2 will be responsible for the following research activities:
compiling organizing and analyzing large volumes of quantitative data
advanced statistical modelling using hierarchical linear modeling (HLM) to account for the nesting of data at the group level
preparing tables presenting results and assisting in the writing of study findings for publications and reports (e.g. draft academic manuscripts)
The successful candidate will have a Bachelors degree in health or social sciences or a related discipline combined with at least 1 year of quantitative research experience. The successful candidate must have demonstrated quantitative research experience namely strong knowledge of data management variable and scale development various analytic methods and in-depth knowledge of hierarchical linear modelling techniques. The successful candidate will also have excellent writing skills as demonstrated through authoring papers academic publications and/or reports. Candidates must be proficient in using Microsoft Office programs as well as SPSS HLM and/or Mplus. The successful candidate will be required to attend a two and one-half day CAMH orientation session.
This is a casual non-union position located in the London Ontario area.
