Maintenance Support Assistant

Perform repairs and maintenance as requested or assigned by the Maintenance Coordinator & Environmental Services Manager.
Inspect the property and building for signs of damage and report to the Maintenance Coordinator & Environmental Services Manager
Assist Maintenance Coordinator as assigned by Environmental Services Manager.
As required and as applicable, make suggestions that will improve efficiency, working conditions or procedures to the Environmental Services Manager.
Ensure all duties assigned to shift are completed.

Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Army's health and safety policies and procedures.
Responsible for the following, work in compliance with the Ontario Health & Safety Act and Regulations, use personal prescribed safety equipment and clothing as directed by the employer, report workplace hazards, dangers, injuries or illness, work in a manner as required by the employer, and report workplace injuries or illness.
Responsible to follow through on all safety and security procedures (including fire) as outlined in the policy and procedures manual.
Participate in regular staff meetings to review operational effectiveness, changes in policies and procedures, and in-service training.
Community, clients.

MANAGERIAL/Technical Leadership RESPONSIBILITY :
This position reports directly to the Environmental Services Manager or designate.
The Maintenance Worker receives work assignments from the Maintenance Coordinator.

Some travel is required.
Normal hours of work – Wednesday to Sunday from 8:00am to 4:00pm. The above responsibilities must be discharged in accordance with the Salvation Army's Mission Statement, in a professional manner, exemplifying Christian Standards of conduct.

Additional training in Facility Services preferred.
Knowledge of building systems preferred.
Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or valid First Aid is considered an asset.
The screening is secured either through the National Canadian Policy Information Centre (CPIC) or through a local police detachment.
A minimum of one year of prior related experience including general familiarity with maintenance procedures and equipment.
Demonstrated professional maintenance skills in minor plumbing, electrical, carpentry and painting.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
