Your new company Our client is a mid-sized, growth-focused Ottawa General Contractor delivering diverse ICI projects up to $50M. If you thrive in an environment where you have the tools but not the layers of support, and you enjoy building structure from the ground up, this role will suit you well.
Drive calls, admin, takeoffs, data updates—and shape how the preconstruction function grows.
If you’re a Senior Estimator who thrives on autonomy and wants to leave your fingerprints on the preconstruction process, this is a rare opportunity in the Ottawa ICI market.
Reporting to the Director of Preconstruction, the Senior Estimator plays a key role in driving preconstruction success—from identifying opportunities to leading the complete tendering process. You will act as a subject‑matter expert, mentor junior estimators, and help shape how the estimating function evolves within the company.
Identify project leads and bid opportunities through online portals.
Conduct detailed reviews and analysis of contract documents before tender closings.
Assess project risks and opportunities, recommending mitigation measures.
Solicit competitive pricing from subcontractors and suppliers.
Maintain strong working relationships with subcontractors, suppliers, clients, and consultants.
Mentor and support junior estimators.
Take initiative on high-volume tasks: calling to source work, data entry, updating takeoff sheets, and refining spreadsheets or internal tools as needed.
College or University degree in Construction, Engineering, or related fields.
- 7–12 years of estimating experience with a General Contractor in competitive ICI environments.
- Strong knowledge of Ottawa’s subcontractor/supplier market and established network connections.
- Proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Experience with On-Screen Takeoff, Bluebeam, Timberline, MS Project, Primavera P6, or similar software.
