About the Clinical Professional Development and Education Service
You will be part of a team of mental health experts that provide educational opportunities to rural mental health providers and CASA's clinical staff. The team’s mandate supports CASA’s goal of becoming an internationally recognized learning and teaching organization by sharing knowledge and building capacity. The program provides formal learning events, coaching, consultation and mentoring to CASA staff across the province and to external mental health providers in Recovery Alberta's north and central-east zones.
Vacation: 20 days per year
Shift structure: Monday to Friday, 7.25 hours per day

Reporting to the Program Manager, Clinical Professional Development and Education, the Clinical Educator is responsible for supporting the development, implementation, coordination and evaluation of clinical training activities for CASA clinical staff. The Clinical Educator will provide knowledge sharing through workshops and presentations, training materials, and clinical planning and development to meet program needs. The Clinical Educator works closely with CASA’s people and culture and clinical leadership teams, as well as participates on internal and external committees as assigned.
The Clinical Educator will:
Design and implement a training plan/strategy to meet expressed clinical training needs.
Produce training materials and courses for in-house use related to organizational training needs.
Work collaboratively with CASA leadership to determine, design, implement, deliver and track organization-wide clinical training priorities; Training activities may focus on clinical topics, as well as systems and processes associated with service delivery (e.g., Facilitate mentoring and coaching for clinical staff.
Handle and manage internal training requests.
Support and participate in initiatives impacting clinical education and training directions.
Support student supervision.
Work collaboratively with the Business Intelligence, Evaluation and Research team to identify evaluation measures and outcomes and to assist with critical appraisal, evaluation and knowledge transfer.
Demonstrated commitment to excellence in clinical practice, supervision and education.
Advanced proficiency with MS Office products (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio) for formal reporting.
D. level) or registered social worker (clinical designation strongly preferred).
Minimum 10 years of clinical experience delivering children’s mental health and youth addictions treatment.
Demonstrated experience in the preparation, design and delivery of clinical education workshops and training to a broad range of audiences.
Demonstrated experience with a number of clinical therapeutic modalities such as, but not limited to: CBT, DBT, Solution Focused, Brief Therapy, post crisis debriefing and trauma therapies.
Experience in group facilitation, such as working groups, is an asset.
A satisfactory Criminal Records Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Child Intervention Check. Ability to pass and maintain Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) certification (training provided by CASA) or Supporting Individuals through Valued Attachments (SIVA) training, as well as physical ability to perform all interventions.
Travel between CASA sites and community sites.
Overnight travel.
