Temporary Part Time Christmas Support Worker

Mission Statement The Salvation Army exists to share the love of Jesus Christ, meet human needs and be a transforming influence in the communities of our world. The Christmas Support Worker provides support to the Community and Family Services during the Christmas season on a temporary basis. Assist with processing, unloading, documenting, and sorting donations of toys and food for the Christmas program and assist with preparing donated items for distribution.
Assist with pick-ups of food and toy donations from community donors using program vehicle.
Assist with set up and take down of toy and food Christmas hamper distribution centre.
Assist with sorting toy donations.
Record statistical data in a clear, organized, and accurate manner.
May assist in the Kettle campaign where needed.
This is a temporary part-time position based on 25 hours per week.
Shifts may include days, afternoons, evenings, weekend shifts, and split shifts, Monday through Saturday. Applicable shifts include a ½ hour unpaid meal break.
Local travel may be associated with this position.
Minimum of one (1) year of prior related experience working in community-based programs would be a definite asset.
Strong skills in all Microsoft Office products and good working knowledge and experience with email and internet-based programs
Valid Ontario Class G Drivers License, personal vehicle required and insurance, current copy of drivers abstract for review and verification that is satisfactory to The Salvation Army, in its sole discretion, is required.
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Armys health and safety policies and procedures.
Treat the property of The Salvation Army with due care and caution.
Ability and willingness to develop an understanding and support for the mission and purpose of The Salvation Army in Canada and its implications as related to position responsibilities.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions, internal equity, and candidate experience, skills, and qualifications relevant to the role.
