Operations Accounting Director

Upstream Oil & Gas

Our client is a growing public oil & gas company based in Calgary. Currently there is a need to add a Manager of Operations Accounting to the team. This is a permanent position reporting directly to the CFO.

The successful candidate will have an integral role overseeing the operational accounting functions of the Company. The role will work collaboratively with all other departments in the organization, ensuring that all operational accounting requirements are met while also assisting other departments in the organizations with operational accounting matters. Provide leadership to the operational accounting staff (5 direct, 13 indirect)

• Manage PA, JV and AP functions
• Continuous process improvement
• Assisting with accounting system maintenance (JVNexus, PAS, Petronet, Open Invoice & Open Ticket) including updates, enhancements and ongoing maintenance issues
• Providing assistance and support to the Accounting Team with complicated invoices, cheque runs, joint venture issues, royalties, lease rentals, allocations, fees and production and revenue issues and entries
• Reviewing and approving payouts, equalizations, materials transfers, correcting entries with partner disputes
• Assisting the Operations and Land departments and the Field with any queries and requests involving operational accounting matters
• Assisting the CFO and Controller with various reviews and analysis as required
• Accounting degree or diploma
• CPA designation considered an asset
• 15+ years of upstream oil & gas experience
• 10+ years of upstream oil and gas operational accounting experience, including JV and PA
• Experience with process improvement, including system implementations, is considered an asset
• Previous exposure to M&A considered an asset
