At Syncrude, our fleet is made up of the largest equipment (in the world!) including Caterpillar 797 haul trucks, Caterpillar D11 dozers, Caterpillar 24 graders and Komatsu 4100 shovels. As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for the safe operation of a variety of ultra-class heavy equipment in the Mine.

12 months of experience operating cable or hydraulic shovels, excavators, dozers, graders or haul trucks in an open pit mine

• High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) or 10 years of relevant work experience
• Operate various makes and models of haul trucks, shovels, backhoes, dozers, and/or graders in adherence to our standards and procedures

Complete walk-arounds, safety checks and field level risk assessments and ensure the heavy equipment is running properly and respectfully intervene when necessary.

Report any necessary repairs to the maintenance team or supervisors and report all incidents, damage and near misses immediately

Participate in and drive continuous improvement programs

You will work out of our Syncrude Mildred lake or Aurora site in Fort McMurray

The shift schedule is a six days on/six days off rotation (three days on, three nights on, six days off; 12-hour shifts)
