The Occupational Health Nurse - Reporting to the Manager of Occupational Health Claims, plays a pivotal role in fostering a safe and effective workplace environment. Committed to adhering to the organizational legislation and the policies, they contribute significantly to maintaining a healthy and safe workplace for employees. In collaboration with HR and Business units, this role actively supports the health and well-being of employees and proactively managing and implementing occupational health services and programs.
Provides primary care and assessments for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illness.
Implements care plans with follow-up nursing care and referrals.
Provides case management of short-term disability (STD), long term disability (LTD), and Workplace Safety and Insurance Board (WSIB) claims.
Maintain and ensure compliance with all health & safety standards, education and required paperwork.
Conduct periodic training, including but not limited to first aid, CPR, health & wellness, and other related areas.
Providing on-site employee health nursing care, immunizations, and health counselling
Participates in occupational health and safety maintenance.
Ability to travel with Ontario for meetings and plant visits.
3 to 5 years of occupational health experience preferred.
- Ability to handle work with sensitive issues and protect confidentiality of medical information.
- Ability to deal with mental health claims/situation.
- Sound judgement in the application of nursing and safety principles Knowledge of health and safety procedures, as well as occupational wellness programs.
- Ability to do electronic charting and database entry using Parklane Systems
- Computer skills and the ability to use Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
- Current COHN certificate preferred 3 to 5 years of occupational health experience (Asset)
- Bilingual (French) an asset
- Experience in a unionized environment as an asset.
