Guidance, Resource (Gr 10-12) Teacher is responsible for supporting students toward graduation by meeting the Provincial Graduation Requirements for the 10-12 Graduation Program. This position includes scheduling students, ensuring students have the correct courses and number of credits toward graduation, supporting students with post-secondary applications, transcript application through the BC Transcript Service, and supporting students toward academic success. Basic Qualifications: A successful candidate will hold a valid BC Teaching Certificate and be a member in good standing in the BC Ministry of Education, Teacher Regulation Branch AND possess one or more of the following:
Training Specialization: Secondary Education with a specialization in Special Education
Related Teaching Experience: Recent successful experience as a Resource Teacher
A Reasonable Expectation: based on a teacher's skills, abilities, professional development, and overall classroom teaching experience, that the teacher will be able to perform the duties in a successful manner in collaboration with other professional staff.
Additional Qualifications: Two or more courses at the 300 or 400 level in Special Education

Guidance Teacher
Monitor graduation requirements of students
Work with Support Block teachers to monitor attendance
Willingness to work as a member of the School Based Team, facilitating communication and coordinating services and resources through the CSS School Based Team.
Support students in navigating transitions, including post-secondary applications, the BC Transcript service, Education Planner BC
Coordinate post-secondary school visits
Work collaboratively and in a consultative manner with classroom teaches, principals, the School Based Team, and Youth Care worker staff
Resource Teacher
A resource teacher ideally has a major in Special Education. Specific training in supporting neurodiverse students is desirable.
a demonstrated ability to support planning that allows access to the curriculum for all students
Ability to support classroom teachers to integrate technology for the purpose of providing access to the curriculum for all students
Training and experience in administering curriculum-based assessment and standardized assessments
Writing summaries of assessment results
Facilitating communication and coordinating services and resources through a school-based and working team model
Ability to support in the initial development of schedules for education assistants and support staff in the school
Tracking students with special needs from year to year and ensuring all students are accurately categorized according to Ministry and District guidelines
Following all policies, procedures and guidelines for Inclusive Education services as defined in the Ministry of Education Manual of Inclusive Education Services
Willingness to work as part of a team in the development and implementation of the School Growth Plan
Willingness to work as a member of the school based Team
Commitment to the school-wide Positive Behaviour Support program as a form of addressing behaviour in the classroom
The resource teacher provides services to students and staff in the regular classroom as well as alternate environments and must be able to work in a collaborative and consultative manner with classroom teachers, principals, the school-based team, special education assistants and others.
The starting annual salary for the full-time Teacher ranges from $61,175 to $109,520 with placement on the range based on length of service and qualifications in accordance with the collective agreement. We also offer a competitive benefits package and pension.
