Store Support Associate

The Thrift Store Clerk provides service to customers sort incoming product and assists in the ongoing retail operations of The Salvation Army Cornwall Thrift Store.

Accurate completion of all customer transactions including cash and debit sales with minimal voids overages or shortages.
Greet and interact with customers/donors in a positive friendly and courteous manner.
Contribute to meeting store sales targets; provide efficient courteous customer service; use tact when dealing with difficult customers.
Be knowledgeable regarding product pricing and featured sale products; Assist with store layout plans to attract customer which include window displays and merchandise displays.
Ensures attractiveness of the store through Tidy Maintenance.
Select donations for store distribution meeting established standards of quality and distinguishing between discarded and good quality merchandise according to company standards.
assist in stock rotation bailing items in the store.
Be knowledgeable regarding product pricing and featured sale products.
Pay attention to store security by monitoring activity in the store.
May be required to open and close the store.
Contribute to the safety of staff and customers (e.g. snow removal clear fire exits clean spillage; no obstacles inside/outside the store).
Maintain an attractive organized and safe appearance of the store tidy up and restock shelves clean sweep dust and mop as necessary; Work in compliance with OH&S Act and Regulations and abide by The Salvation Armys health and safety policies and procedures.

FINANCIAL AND MATERIALS MANAGEMENT:

Ensure that ministry unit policies and procedures are followed for the safe/secure handling of all monetary funds received and appropriate documentation of gift cards and various vouchers is maintained.
Responsible for accurate completion of customer transactions including handling cash and debit sales.
Contribute to store budgets by maintaining customer service standards.
Assist with the materials management of donations/product flow in the thrift store.

This is a casual relief elect to work position with no standard weekly hours of work.
work will be offered as per the Thrift Store hours of operation Monday to Saturday 9:00 a.m. Shifts will include weekdays and Saturdays.
Some related experience in warehouse processing or goods distribution would be a definite asset.
Brand awareness would be an asset.
Knowledge and experience using a cash register debit machine and/or credit card processing is a definite asset.
Lead by example by demonstrating a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn and be flexible in the face of change.
Placement in the salary range will be based on factors such as market conditions internal equity and candidate experience skills and qualifications relevant to the role.
