Marriott Ottawa is preparing to begin a transformative, top-to-bottom renovation of all guestrooms, event space, restaurants and public areas, commencing in 2025, positioning the hotel to continue its storied legacy of hospitality excellence.
Demonstrate Wonderful Hospitality. Provide personal attention to guests/clients and ensure that each experience is legendary.
Issue bar beverage inventory at the beginning of the event and take a detailed inventory of products returned at the end of the event.
Assist/participate in pre-con meetings and other required meetings before the client events.
Direct and follow up on daily task schedule for all Banquet Hosts.
Maximize efficiency through the preparation and planning of each Banquet function.
Perform a regular inventory of Banquet equipment.
Ensure all Banquet areas are properly locked, and lights turned off and secured before leaving the premises.
Assist with departmental training of Hosts and new hires.
Promote a safe work environment and reinforce all Health & Safety policies and procedures.
Adhere to all division and local standard policies and procedures.
Maintain a cooperative, team-like attitude in working with supervisors and fellow Hosts (both within the department and in other hotel departments), to help achieve our common goals of maximizing guest satisfaction and profit margins.
Maintain a positive attitude toward the hotel and the job being performed.
College degree in Hotel Restaurant Management with a minimum of 1-year experience as a Banquet Captain or in a similar capacity preferred.
Minimum of 1-year supervisory experience in Banquets or similar environments.
Previous serving experience in Banquets or similar capacities is a definite asset.
Bilingualism (English & French) is a definite asset.
Excellent computer skills; knowledge of CI/TY and Micros is a definite asset.
Must be available to work various shifts (mornings, days, evenings, weekends, holidays).
