The Opportunity Mosaic is seeking Legal Counsel to work out of our Nanaimo office on Vancouver Island British Columbia.
The Role Reporting to the VP General Counsel & Corporate Secretary the Legal Counsel will offer internal legal advice encompassing various commercial matters with an emphasis on real property matters and provide support to the VP General Counsel & Corporate Secretary in multiple areas of law. Provide high quality and practical legal advice largely focused on real property matters to the business team on day-to-day legal matters and strategic initiatives;
Draft review and negotiate a wide range of legal agreements relating to real estate matters and interests in land commercial contracts employment of contractors and service providers and data licensing;
Direct and oversee the work of external legal advisors;
Assist General Counsel & Corporate Secretary with corporate governance requirements;
Perform independent legal research and analysis of statutes regulations and case law; Bachelors Degree and LLB/JD;
Preference will be given to a candidate with experience from a national or regional law firm;
Member in good standing with the Law Society of BC is required;
Expertise in Commercial Real Estate law in BC is required;
Experience in dealing with federal and provincial Crown agencies is preferred but not required;
