POSITION TEMPORARY VACANCY

CARPENTER

The North Okanagan-Shuswap School District No. 83 invites qualified individuals to apply for our Temporary Carpenter position. This is 40 hour per week, CUPE union position, and the rate of pay is $37.74 per hour.

In the North Okanagan-Shuswap School District, we serve just over 6800 students and 1200 staff in 24 through a variety of sites located around Shuswap Lake and the North Okanagan. We are known for strong academic achievement, a thriving trades and careers program, and a rich culture of school athletics. The school district enjoys comprehensive Local Education Agreements with each of four First Nations bands. One elementary, one middle, and one secondary school offer French Immersion. Perform structural maintenance repairs to all school plants.

Duties will be mainly in carpentry, millwork and renovations.

Perform general structural additions, renovations, form work and framing.

Perform general repairs to cabinets, furniture and building finishes, stairs, flooring, sash and doors, etc.

Filling and taping of drywall surfaces.

Perform general masonry and concrete finishing duties.

Repair and install exterior and interior building finishes and coverings.

General glazing installations.

Prepare purchase orders, obtain supplies as required and recommend equipment purchase or replacement. in estimating material/labour for assigned projects.

Be willing to accept emergency callouts for repairs.

Travel to all School District facilities required, transportation may be provided to the job site from the base site (Works Complex). Appropriate personal safety equipment is to be supplied and worn by the trade's person. Certification as a journeyman as set out in the B.Apprenticeship Act for Carpentry T.or equivalent Inter-provincial Technical Qualifications preferably combined with Locksmith certification.

Three years' working experience as a tradesperson in maintenance within the specified trades.

Working knowledge of related maintenance trades connected with physical plant servicing, preferably with some joinery certification or experience.

Working knowledge of other related maintenance trades connected with physical plant servicing.
