Site Overview: SMGH is a 197-bed comprehensive community hospital located in Kitchener, Ontario, and the second largest acute care facility in the St. It serves Waterloo, Wellington, Dufferin, Grey-Bruce and surrounding regions, providing 24/7 emergency care, cardiac and respiratory services, outpatient/day surgery, and general medicine.
Position: Full-Time Security Guard
Site: Waterloo Regional Health Network , 911 Queen's Blvd, Kitchener, ON N2M 1B2
Overtime is Averaging Agreement after 88 hours

Conduct regular rounds of hospital premises, including parking areas, hallways, patient rooms, entrances, and exits, to ensure the safety and security of the site

• Operate security cameras and alarm systems, ensuring any suspicious activity is reported immediately to the appropriate authorities
• Monitor and control entry points to the hospital, ensuring that only authorized individuals are allowed access to restricted areas
• Act quickly in emergency situations, such as medical emergencies, fire alarms, or security threats. Provide directions and ensure that guests adhere to hospital policies and procedures
• Complete reports on incidents, breaches, and security concerns
• Work closely with hospital staff and local law enforcement to provide a coordinated security effort and ensure the safety of all parties involved
• Ensure that hospital policies, including visitor and patient protocols, are followed
• Valid Security License for the province of Ontario
• Immunization records for Mumps, Measles, Rubella, Varicella , Covid Vaccine two doses, and two step TB skin test
• English (oral and written) fluency is a must
• Must have one year experience in healthcare security, or law enforcement
• Degree in Police Foundations, Protection Security and Investigations, Criminology, or Border Services will be an asset
• Able to provide a clean shaven face in order to pass a N95 mask fit test
• Applicants who do not possess these certifications can opt into Paladin's Use of Force (UOF)/Management of Aggressive Behavior (MOAB) training program prior to their onboarding training to ensure they meet the requirements of the position

however, Paladin will cover all the costs of the training with a 6-month commitment to the position/availability
