Medical Clinic Office Assistant

Cranbrook Urgent Primary Care has an exciting opportunity for a Casual Medical Office Assistant to join their team in Cranbrook, B.The Cranbrook UPCC is seeking a Medical Office Assistant with at least one years health care experience - preferably in a clinic setting. We have weekend and evening hours available with the centre being open until 8:00 pm during the week and 7:00 pm on the weekends.
Hours of work are rotating days, evenings 08:30 to 19:00, 16:00 to 20:00

Medical Office Assistant – Certificate or proof of course completion
Education & Experience – Grade 12 plus two years’ recent related experience (or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience)

In this role you will perform a variety of medical office assistant and clerical duties such as:
Answering telephones, general correspondence, record keeping, chart notes, reports, medical billings
Data entry and word processing, graphic and database applications,
Writing correspondence including: recording, transcribing and typing forms
Managing medical/surgical supplies and equipment and other resource material.
Escorting patients to examination/treatment rooms and ensuring appropriate instruments, procedure trays or other supplies are set up;
Cleaning and sterilizing medical equipment and instruments as well as delivery and disposal of supplies, biological, material and equipment
Education, Training and Experience:
Grade 12, graduation from a Medical Office Assistant course from an accredited Community College, plus two years recent related experience in a health care setting; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively with others in fast-paced health centre environment.
Completion of an administered 5-minute typing certificate of 40 wpm in the last 24 months from an approved institution (non-supervised tests are not accepted).
Demonstrated proficiency in computer word processing, spreadsheet applications and specialized clinical information systems.
Demonstrated ability to utilize and understand Medical Terminology.
