The Renfrew Victoria Hospital (RVH) is a fully accredited facility located just 45 minutes west of Ottawa. Part of the Renfrew and Area Health Village, RVH provides medical, surgical and complex continuing care as well as extensive ambulatory care with over 30,000 emergency and clinic visits per year.

We are recruiting a Physician Assistant (PA) for our Emergency Department, to assist our Emergency Physicians on duty in assessing patients. The PA also participates in education sessions and may be asked to attend or participate in other activities related to the development of the ED service or hospital. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced, collaborative PA to join our hospital team. This position is a one-year contract with the potential to become permanent.An experienced, collegial and committed team of emergency physicians, nurses and staff to support you, including social work, RT, geriatric assessor, imaging, and 24/7 laboratory

• Support of in-house hospitalists, general surgeons, internal medicine, nephrology, anaesthesia, and local back-up ED physicians.
• X-Ray and CT 7 days a week, and weekday US
• The Ottawa Hospital and CHEO 1 hour east.
• Access to the hospital’s Employee Assistance Program, UptoDate, and Education Fund for CME
• As part of the Atlas Alliance of hospitals, our electronic medical record is EPIC and full training is provided.

Under supervision of the ER physician and as per the medical directives: perform history and physicals, and develop a plan of care, order investigations and interpret findings, perform procedures, provide patient education and counselling, arrange interventions and post-discharge appointments

• Interact with other ED team members and community partners as part of the patients circle of care
• Model and encourage personal accountability; Successful completion of the Physician Assistant Bachelor Degree from an accredited educational institution.
• Certified through the Physician Assistant’s Certification Council of Canada (PACCC) or National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
• Membership with the Canadian Association of Physician Assistants (CAPA)
