This position is open to all qualified CUPE staff throughout Lakeridge Health commencing 17 February 2026 and closing at 11:59 pm on 20 February 2026.

As a member of an interprofessional team, you will provide client-centred psychiatric, addiction and general nursing care, ensuring the security and safety of the patients while maintaining the CNO standards of nursing practice. You will be responsible for providing clinical care to patients on the inpatient mental health units, which includes the General unit and Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU). Working within a primary nursing model, you will actively contribute to the treatment approach for the unit, perform assessments, develop, implement and evaluate the interprofessional plan of client care.

Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario (in good standing);

Registered Practical Nurse Diploma from an accredited community college

Minimum of current or 1 year experience in an Acute, Community Mental Health, or Addictions unit/program is required;

CNA certification in Psychiatric/Mental Health Nursing is considered an asset

Demonstrated knowledge of Community Mental Health Resources;

Completion of a Mental Health Certificate Program preferred with expected completion within 3 years of hire.

Demonstrated knowledge of the Mental Health Act, Trauma-informed care and Psychotropic medication.

Demonstrated understanding of approaches to assessing and management of suicide risk

Ability to conduct Mental Health Assessment with excellent interviewing and communication skills;

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to develop a therapeutic Nurse-Client relationship and work within a collaborative and diverse interprofessional team;

Ability to work with clients of diverse cultural and social backgrounds is necessary

Bilingualism or proficiency in a second language would be an asset;

Must have satisfactory performance record;
